OUR FIRST BOOK IS OUT

Doug Lowell. Do You Have Fire for Me? Loveheadhouse, 2021.

What do you do when you launch a successful podcast to drive people to your photographic t-shirt business and everything works except the t-shirt part?

Maybe you publish books instead.

So, here is the first book offered under the Loveheadhouse imprint. I intend to publish more, and not just necessarily my own. But of course the future will have some say in that.

Do You Have Fire for Me? is a reaction to the gift of a painter’s jacket from the Berlin artist Thomas Zipp. The dilemma I faced was, what to make with it?

The answer came in 2016 when a wave of cthonic forces were unleashed into the world and I realized a protective apotropaic ritual was called for. (Thank you, Jane E. Harrison, for my understanding of ancient Greek ritual.)

48 pages, 38 color photographs, with a signed outtake Instax photograph attached to inside back cover, to be burned or not, as the purchaser decides. Edition of 100 copies. $30

You can buy your copy here, while available.

YEs, the podcast went dry

I apologize for how abruptly I stopped producing new issues of Loveheadhouse the Photography Podcast. Let’s just say that COVID was not the only force turning my world upside-down at that time.

The idea was to have a podcast and a photographic t-shirt business that supported each other. One of them turned out to be a complete deadbeat. (Hint: it was the t-shirts.)

I want to thank all the people who supported the podcast while it happened, and I humbly bow to the handful of photographers I was able to interview. How lucky I was. Yet it’s hard to say that the world needs another photography podcast right now.

Loveheadhouse has since become a personal project of sorts. We’ll see what it becomes.
